Tariffs of Retro Rentals
  1. RESERVATIONS
    A booking shall be complete when the confirmed booking form is returned with a payment in. The payment includes a non-refundable deposit of € 400 or if the total cost of the trip is less than €400 then the total amount is due at time of booking. If booking is made less than 6 weeks before travel then the full cost of the trip must be paid on booking. The hirer shall receive confirmation of all hire details by direct email to the email address provided at time of booking. Payment is only acceptable by credit card/laser or bank transfer. Two proofs of ID are required, one showing current address.
     
  2. DRIVERS
    Drivers shall be 21-70 years of age, and have held a full licence for 2 years. Drivers between 21 and 24 extra charges apply* (see section 3).
    Full driver licences must be free of endorsements or extra insurance charges may apply. Drivers are personally liable for legal penalties incurred during the hire period. Any driver who has medical or legal restrictions on driving MUST inform RETRO RENTALS LTD in advance. The full driving licence plus one other form of identification including proof of address must be produced for inspection at time of collection. A maximum of two extra drivers can be added to the insurance at an extra cost ** (see section 3 .
     
  3. INSURANCE
    Fully comprehensive driver insurance is provided by RETRO RENTALS LTD to the driver named on the agreement holding a full clean drivers licence issued in the Republic of Ireland or the UK starting from €25 per day or €157.50 per week. Insurance cover for the main driver holding a non Republic of Ireland or non UK licence will be charged at an additional €15/day. Insurance for an additional driver holding a ROI or UK licence is charged at an additional €15/day. Insurance for drivers aged between 21 and under 25 yrs old is charged at an additional €20/day. Additional insurance charges may apply if the hirer has an occupation that is deemed to be high risk of if the hirer has penalty points on their driver licence. Touring outside Ireland shall not be permitted unless by prior arrangement with RETRO RENTALS LTD and an additional insurance cost of €30 per driver per day. The hirer shall be responsible for insurance excess €1600 per case not rental. This will be held via credit card. In the event of any damage to either the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first €1600 which includes recovery costs. The hirer should note that failure to declare an accident is a criminal offence. Personal property is not covered.

    Driving by an unauthorised driver invalidates the insurance. It is illegal to drive without insurance in Ireland & UK. The theft of a campervan is not covered by insurance if the keys are left in the ignition or the surrounds of the vehicle while the vehicle is unoccupied and the hirer shall be fully responsible for the cost of a replacement vehicle.

    USE OF THE VEHICLE

    During the rental period, the hirers agree that the vehicle will not be:

    • Driven other than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner or used in a manner which could cause damage
    • Driven in a prohibited area.
    • Driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law.
    • Driven by persons under the age of 21 years.
    • Driven by person who is un-authorized to drive the vehicle as set out under RETRO RENTALS LTD terms and conditions.
    • Used to carry more persons than is detailed on the rental agreement, maximum 4 persons in accordance of provision of seat belts.
    • Left with the ignition key in or on the vehicle while it is un occupied (invalids insurance).
    • Damage by submersion in water or in contact with salt water.
    • Used for any illegal purpose for any race/rally or contest.
    • Used to tow any vehicle or trailer.
    • Used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward.
    • Used to carry volatile liquids, gases explosives or all other corrosive or inflammable material.
    • Driven on any roads or surfaces other than sealed bitumen roads.

     
  4. CAUTION DEPOSIT
     €800. This is accepted only by credit card (debited at time of collection). The caution will be returned in full at the conclusion of the rental provided
    No damage to campervan or any third party
    Campervan vacated on time, clean, refuelled & toilet emptied (where applicable)
    No additional costs have been incurred during the period of rental (see below)
    The hirer shall be liable for any expenses or costs incurred through violation of traffic laws or regulations. An administration charge will be made if the hirer does not notify Retro Rentals. Damage to tyres & windscreens shall be the hirer’s responsibility. The hirer is required to check regularly the water and oil levels in the engine and tyre pressures. Any malfunction, breakdown or repairs caused by the negligence of the hirer shall be made good at the expense of the hirer.
    RETRO RENTALS LTD reserves the right to increase the caution deposit for specific events example festivals.
    RETRO RENTALS will hold your credit card details for 90 days after rental agreement finished in case any traffic violation infringements are presented to RETRO RENTALS LTD for your hire period. The driver will still be liable for any penalties and fees received after this period. RETRO RENTALS LTD will notify the driver of any speeding or parking fines and an administrative charge of €25 for each infringement occurred throughout the hire period applies.
     
  5. BREAKDOWN
    24 hour roadside assistance is provided under the hire contract. The hirer may instruct repairs to the value of €125. RETRO RENTALS LTD must be notified by telephone for repairs in excess of this amount. Reimbursement shall be made on production of receipts
     
  6. ACCIDENTS
    It is the hirers responsibility to complete the accident form where an accident occurs and to notify Retro Rentals. Where any person is injured the Gardai (ROI Police Force) must be contacted. Failure to report an accident or damage to Retro Rentals can result in the loss of all or part of the caution deposit. In the event of damage, breakdown or an accident NOT due to hirer negligence which deprives the hirer of the complete use of the vehicle, the liability of Retro Rentals shall be limited to the refund of rental charges for any days lost. Hirer is not entitled to a replacement vehicle in cases of excessive misuse or negligent damage.
     
  7. CANCELLATION BY RETRO RENTALS LTD
    Retro Rentals reserve the right to cancel a reservation at the commencement of hire when:
    • Nominated drivers licence is not produced or is not valid and not in accordance with the stated conditions.
    • Failure to provide caution bond (credit card only)
    • Over occupancy of booked campervan
    • Address on drivers licence must match booking/billing address or additional proof of ID is required
    • Hirer from outside Ireland or the United Kingdom fails to produce a valid passport. UK/ROI must produce 2nd form of ID
      In these circumstances all moneys paid by the hirer shall be forfeited.

    RETRO RENTALS reserves the right to refuse to hire to any person, without stating cause. Booking deposit may be refunded in this case.
     
  8. AVAILABILITY
    RETRO RENTALS LTD shall make every effort to ensure that the vehicle you reserve is available at the agreed time. If for any reason it is not available, we shall endeavour to make another vehicle available without extra cost. BUT if this is not acceptable or another vehicle proves unobtainable, our liability is limited to the refund on any money paid.
     
  9. HIRE PERIOD
    Collection of vehicle shall be from the arranged collection point at 1600hrs unless agreed in writing previously. Campervan must be returned & vacated before 1030hrs on the day and at the location agreed on rental agreement. Return to a location not agreed in writing will be subject to loss of caution. There shall be no refund for early return. Late returns without prior agreement shall be subject to a €40 per hour excess. Late pick up does not entitle hirer to late return.
     
  10. COMPLAINTS
    If any faults or damage to the vehicle are discovered after the rental period commences please notify RETRO RENTALS LTD by phone. Faults or damage must be reported at the latest on the return of the vehicle. In the event that a complaint is not satisfactorily resolved upon return, the client must inform RETRO RENTALS LTD in writing within 14 days.
     
  11. PETS
    Domestic pets may be permitted in vehicles if written prior agreement with RETRO RENTALS LTD is obtained. Guide dogs shall normally be accepted. Any additional damage/cleaning due to Domestic Pets shall include €100 extra cleaning cost.
     
  12. CANCELLATION BY HIRER
    In the event of cancellation by hirer the following charges shall be incurred less than 4 weeks prior to departure, including no-show, 100% of hire cost; 4-6 weeks 50% of hire cost more than 6 weeks, booking deposit lost Note: We would advise you to purchase holiday cancellation insurance.
     
  13. STORAGE OF LUGGAGE & PERSONAL CAR PARKING
    Storage of luggage or the parking of one car may be available, if booked. This shall be entirely at the hirer’s own risk.
